Website Design for Business Succes

To succeed in business today you need a website. No surprise there. But that website is your face to the world, it’s your image by which you will be judged. Amazingly, a large number of websites look old and clumsy. You know the ones – they look like something from the 90s. They don’t work on mobiles and take forever to load.

Is that the image you want for your company?

Why is load speed important? Because statistics are very clear – if it takes longer than 3 seconds to load, people give up and go elsewhere.

The ability to look great on a mobile is critical. More people access the internet today by mobile devices than by desktops or laptops. Google has made responsiveness – the ability to work well on a mobile – one of its key criteria for ranking high in its searches.

This highlights the need to get the best website you can sensibly afford. It certainly doesn’t need to be expensive. But cheap can be a disaster!

What type of Website?

There are many ways to create a website today. You can do it yourself using some of the drag and drop site builders. Wix, Weebly and WordPress are probably the better known.

Judging by market share alone, WordPress is by far and away the best. With over 30% of all websites on the internet using WordPress, including well-known international businesses, it stands apart from its competition. And it’s easy to build a complete good-looking functionally rich website on WordPress without spending a penny – aside from a domain name and hosting, which you need with any site.

Wix and Weebly provide a popular alternative. Increasingly, users are frustrated by the limitations of such tools. For a simple site, they can provide everything you need. But start to expand your vision, and you may quickly find that the inability to have complete control over the layouts or functionality becomes frustrating.

It’s also possible to buy a bespoke website from a developer using one of the coding languages. This would give you complete freedom to let your imagination run riot. If you can dream it, someone can code it. But what happens when you need another change, perhaps to offer a new service? You might find your previous developer unavailable and, worse, depending on how well the site is documented, it may be difficult for someone else to work on the code.

WordPress is the way to go!

There are many reasons why WordPress is the best route to go. I have used many different tools to build websites over the years. DreamWeaver, Weebly, Tripod and a host of proprietary builders among them. None come close to WordPress.

The breadth of functionality and the ease with which websites can be changed to reflect new requirements, make it the platform of choice.
